This original acrylic painting is a one-of-a-kind piece signed by Alexandra Chauchix.

Cándida Huelva has a very special story. She was born as a slave in Angola in 1845, managed to escape from the ship that was carrying her to an ominous destiny when she was a teenager, and spent the rest of her life as a free woman in El Puerto de Santa Maria, in the south of Spain, where she died in 1951. Since I was born myself in an island whose inhabitants are descendants of slaves brought from Africa, I feel very moved by her story.

The painting is signed on the front and the back. The edges are painted, creating a continuity with the painting.
